Sconset Beach Preservation Fund

Nantucket’s eastern shore is eroding rapidly.  When a group of concerned citizens, the Sconset Beach Preservation Fund, teamed up with the Town of Nantucket to protect a vulnerable section of historic Baxter Road from erosion, they turned to Cottage + Castle to provide pre-construction research on feasibility as well as management of the construction of what can be described as the world’s first geotube erosion control measure covered with a sacrificial sand template.

Despite a short construction timeline and difficult winter weather, Cottage + Castle, in conjunction with Fishtech Industries, completed the technically challenging installation on time and under budget. Click here to read an article about this project in the Cape Cod Times.
